Won't Fit is a room planner. It is built so that the interesting part — drawing, the 3D, reading a plan out of a photograph, checking whether things fit — happens on your device. This page says exactly what leaves it, including the one feature that does not work that way.

Who is responsible

BIT1 LLC, a Washington limited liability company, is the controller of the personal data described here. For anything on this page, write to privacy@wontfit.app.

If you do not make an account

Nothing personal reaches us. Rooms, preferences and your name if you set one are stored on the device, by the app, and are never sent anywhere. You can use Won't Fit this way indefinitely.

What does reach us is a count. When a page on this site is viewed, the app is opened, a room is started, the plans are shown or a checkout is begun, the app or the site tells our server so: an event name and one word about it (which page, which kind of room), and nothing that identifies you or your device — no cookie, no identifier, no name. We keep the numbers, not the requests. Like any request, it carries your IP address as far as the ordinary server logs described below, and no further.

If you do make an account

We store:

• Your email address, because it is how you sign in and how we can send you a password reset. Held in Amazon Cognito.
• Your name, if you choose to give one. It is optional and only used to show a name and initials in the app.
• Your rooms and preferences, if you are on Plus and sync is therefore switched on. These are the designs themselves — walls, dimensions, furniture, finishes. Held in Amazon DynamoDB.
• A Stripe customer identifier, if you subscribe, so we can tell which subscription is yours.
• How many room descriptions you have used — a count, not the descriptions.
• The public half of a passkey, if you add one, so we can check a sign-in made with it. Held in Amazon Cognito. The private half never leaves your device, and we never see your fingerprint or face.
• A sign-in code, for the ten minutes it is good for, when you sign in with a password and we email you one.
• Ordinary server logs — request paths, status codes, timings and IP addresses — kept for one month and used to find faults and abuse.

A free account does not sync, so a free account's rooms stay on the device in the same way they do with no account at all.

When you describe a room

This is the one feature that sends what you type somewhere. When you are signed in and ask Won't Fit to draw a room from a description, the text of that description goes to our server and from there to a language model run by Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock), which answers with the room. We do not keep the description: it is not written to our database, and our logs record that a room was drawn, not what was asked for. The one exception is a failure — if the model answers with something that is not a room, that answer is logged for a month so the fault can be found. AWS does not keep the description or use it to train models. A copy of your recent descriptions is kept on your device so you can reuse them.

When you ask for a photograph

Plus can turn the 3D view into a photograph. When you press that button, a picture of the 3D view as it is on your screen, and a list of what is in the room in words, go to our server and from there to an image model run on Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock, Stability AI's model). The photograph comes back to you. We keep neither the picture we sent nor the one that came back; AWS does not keep them or use them to train models. Nothing is sent until you press the button.

What we deliberately do not collect

• Photographs. When you point Won't Fit at a floor plan, the picture is read on the device and is never uploaded. There is no model download and no network call in that feature at all.
• Card details. Payments go through Stripe. We never see or store a card number.
• Advertising or tracking identifiers. There are no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs and no cross-site tracking in the app or on this site. No cookies are set by this site. Our own counting, described above, has no identifier to tie one count to another.
• Location, contacts, or anything else the app does not need.

Who else is involved

Three processors, each doing one job:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, accounts, storage, and the model that reads a room description.
• Stripe — taking payments and managing subscriptions.
• Apple and Google, if you bought a subscription through their stores rather than through this site.

Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else except where the law requires it.

Where the data lives

On AWS infrastructure in the United States (Oregon). If you are in the UK or the EEA, this means your data is transferred to the United States; that transfer relies on [TRANSFER MECHANISM — e.g. the EU Standard Contractual Clauses as incorporated in the AWS Data Processing Addendum].

How long it is kept

• Account details and rooms: until you delete your account.
• A deleted room leaves a marker for about a month so your other devices find out it was deleted; the room's contents go immediately.
• Server logs: one month.
• Payment records: kept by Stripe and by us for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is typically six to seven years.

Deleting everything

In the app, on the web or on a phone: Settings → your account → Delete account. This removes your account, your synced rooms, your preferences and any links you shared, cancels a subscription if you have one, and cannot be undone. Rooms already on your device stay there — they are yours.

Without the app, write to privacy@wontfit.app from the address you signed up with, and we will delete the account and everything above within 30 days and tell you when it is done.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to see what we hold, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict what we do with it, and to receive a copy in a portable form. Deleting your account does most of this immediately; for anything else, write to privacy@wontfit.app and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority — in the UK that is the ICO.

Children

Won't Fit is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age). If you think a child has made an account, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
